Tillicoultry Allotment Association

President : Bill McMurray, 5 Tullich Terrace,
Tillicoultry, FK13 6RD Tel. 01259 751273
The Tillicoultry Allotment Association is situated near
Wilson's Nursery at the bottom of Chapelle Crescent (East Side). The
aim of the Association is to encourage all to grow fruit, vegetables
and flowers as organically as possible.
After a few years of neglect the site has been regenerated
with a number of new plotholders starting out. Over the last 12 months
tons of rubbish have been removed from the site thanks to the efforts
of members and donations of skips from Snowie Ltd and Clackmannan Council.
A hard working committee is in place and a number of projects are "work
in progress". These projects include providing hedging or low fencing
to border each plot and the removal of barbed wire and corrugated iron
sheeting. Development of a composting area, off street car parking, a
security fence, wildlife area and opening up of disused areas of the
site are all major tasks that will be tackled. The Association hope to
establish links to local pre-school organisations and the primary school
to offer education opportunities and hopefully a plot children can use.
Caring for a plot can be hard work initially but it is rewarding
when fresh vegetables are produced and you can enjoy the fruits of your
labours. Fresh air, exercise, growing and eating your own produce as
well as meeting like minded folk are only some of the benefits. Although
the allotment site has been improved further work is required and the
committee will organise project days to tackle specific tasks. Members
will also be asked to help in the maintenance of the site.
Please feel free to visit the allotments at any time
and see for yourself or contact Bill McMurray (01259 751273) if you
are interested in a plot.
