The
text size on any web page can be changed by clicking on View at the top
of the page and moving your mouse down to Text Size where you will be
presented with a selection of text sizes. Simply move your mouse across
and click on your preferred text size.
The
brief tutorial below may also help if you are new to the world wide web.
Some things may differ if you are using an Apple computer rather than
a PC.
There
are also quite a few web sites purporting to guide beginners. Internet
101 is one of the best click
here to take a look at Internet 101.
Web
pages are not like the pages of a book to be read left to right, top
to bottom and in order. Web pages are navigated by clicking on links.
Sometimes a single click of the left mouse button & sometimes a double
click.
To
get to this page you clicked on
You
may have noticed that your mouse pointer changed from an arrow to a hand
with a pointing forefinger as you moved it over the picture of the question
mark. This always happen when you move your mouse pointer over a link.
As
is the case on many but not all websites text links on tillicoultry.org.uk
are underlined & are initially brown (the text colour may change
after you have clicked on it to show that you have visited that link)
so for example the word Clacksnet in the sentence below is a link & clicking
on it will open a window containing the Clacksnet website. If the window
is too small it can be made larger by clicking on the maximise button
in the top right hand corner next to the red cross. To return to this
Help page you simple close the Clacksnet window by clicking on the red x next
to the maximise button.
Try
it.
Tillicoultry.org.uk
was founded under the Clacksnet umbrella
to promote local community use of the Internet, and provide assistance
for Tillicoultry community groups to get on-line and have a web presence.
Some
links like the
which
brought you to this page are picture links. When exploring web sites
it is always worth moving your mouse pointer over pictures to discover
if they are links. If your mouse pointer changes from an arrow to a hand
then the picture is a link, click on it to begin your journey. If your
mouse pointer remains an arrow when over a picture then it's just a nice
picture.
Some
links, like the Clacksnet one above, open a window containing the page
or site. Closing the window reveals your original web page.
Others open a window which replaces your original page; these are usually
links to another page on the same site. You can then navigate your way
around the site, & back to your previous page if you wish, by means
of the menu bar which will contain a link to the home page (front page)
& other pages on that site. Or you can return to your previous page
by clicking the Back button near the top of your screen.
Try the link below & use the Back button to return to this page.
The Tillicoultry
